3. THE EUROPASS PLATFORM: OTHER FUNCTIONALITY
1. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONALITY FOR REGISTERED USERS
1.5. MY SKILLS, MY INTERESTS
The My Skills and My Interests sections of Europass allow users to showcase their skills and personal preferences in a structured and transparent way.
My Skills
This section helps gain a clearer understanding of one’s abilities and provides guidance on how to effectively describe them, making it easier to update profiles and CVs.
Registered users might consider completing this section with the help of a guidance counsellor to get a wider and more accurate picture of their potential.
Registered users can:
-
- input their professional skills, language proficiencies, digital skills, and soft skills (e.g., management, communication, collaboration, creativity).
- build their skills profile by confirming or rejecting skills suggested from their personal profile. The more up to date your personal profile is, the more accurate the suggestions are.
Europass provides standardized categories (e.g., technical, managerial) and offers suggestions to help users describe their skills effectively. The suggestions displayed are provided by the ESCO (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications, and Occupations) database, which uses harmonized terminology, making the skills more recognizable and comparable across Europe.
My Interests
This section allows to highlight personal preferences, motivations, and career interests (e.g., areas of work, sectors, or types of jobs individuals are passionate about). It gives a clearer picture of the kind of roles and work environments the individual is seeking, helping employers and institutions better match job openings or learning opportunities to the individual's profile.
