Create a Europass Cover Letter as a registered user

The Europass Cover Letter editor provides users with the option of four different cover letter templates. The templates are designed to match the graphics of the Europass CVs. Users can prepare their Europass Cover Letters through guest access or as registered users. There are several pathways to prepare the Europass Cover Letter in the editor. The editor itself consists of several parts that together form the structure of the Cover Letter. These parts are:

    • Contact details of the person preparing the cover letter
    • Information about the person/organization to whom the document is addressed
    • City, date and subject
    • Content
    • Closure

On the Europass portal users can edit the Europass Cover Letter in multiple ways:

    • via "Me": select "My Europass" from the drop-down menu, then look for the "Create Cover Letter" button under personal data

    • via "My Library": several categories of documents are stored in this section; the second sub-category, "Cover Letters", allows you to prepare your cover letter by selecting the "Create a Cover Letter" icon.

In both cases, users you have several options as their next step:

    • Import a ready-made Europass Cover Letter that can be further updated. The cover letter can be imported from your device (computer, memory stick, etc.) by clicking on "Import Cover Letter", or it can be uploaded from the Europass Library by clicking on "Choose from Library";
    • Prepare a completely new Europass Cover Letter from scratch ("Create a new cover letter"). If the system proposes an option to continue the cover letter draft, it means that the user has not finished editing a cover letter that was already started within the last 48 hours.

In reality, this does not pose any problem: you can resume with the editing of the cover letter, and when you want to finish it, click the "Finish" icon after transferring it to PDF/saving it.

Create a Europass Cover Letter as a guest

Guest users can also create and edit their Europass Cover Letters on the Europass portal. Users can create a completely new Europass Cover Letter ("Create a new Cover Letter") in case they have not done it before. Users can also edit an already existing Europass Cover Letter. To do this, users need to upload it the Cover Letter Editor from their devices ("Import Cover Letter"). This is a good solution if they already have it saved on a device and just want to quickly update/ rearrange a few details, or if they do not wish to register on the Europass portal. In both cases, guest users need to remember to download the letters to their devices when they have finished creating/ editing, to avoid losing their work.

In order to use this option, you must make sure that you do not enter the registration process, but immediately start editing. The most important is the first pop-up window that appears after you have clicked on the "Create Cover Letter" icon. You must be very careful to select “Continue” and not “Create a Europass profile”.

Continue editing your cover letter until the end. Remember that if you start the registration process while your cover letter is being prepared and is not yet finalised, you can lose your work, so never start the registration process while editing as a guest.

Editing your Europass Cover Letter: A few more features

Cover Letter editing language: Please note that the editor language is not necessarily the language in which you are editing the Cover Letter: your user interface can be in Slovenian, but you may be editing the Cover Letter in English. However, it is recommended that the same language is chosen for both. You can change the language of the editor at the top right icon and the language of the document itself at the beginning of the Cover Letter.

Editing drop-down lists: every drop-down list, even the mandatory ones (e.g., Opening salutation) also allows free input.

Saving a Cover Letter as a PDF file: When you are done editing, choose a graphic template and check the entire content all over again. Pay attention to any possible spelling and punctuation errors (some are added automatically by the editor!).

If you are a registered user, you can save your document in your Europass Library. Downloading an additional copy on your local device is recommended as backup just in case. Finish editing by clicking the "Finish" icon that appears after downloading/saving the document.
